Our Story
All About the Music
My name is Robert Kerns, and as a small child, I developed a love of music when I found a box of my mom’s records and a turntable. It was a collection from the late 50s and early 60s, including Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and my favorite, The Beatles.
I began my study of music with the trumpet in grade school. The guitar called me from a young age, and I started teaching myself to play as a teenager. During my senior year, I auditioned for the jazz band at Mazama High School and made the cut.
Around 1983, I joined the rock-band, Black Dove. We played at local bars and parties in Southern Oregon. In 1986, we migrated to Southern California to test the waters of the bigger market. We landed in Orange County and built up a following in area showcase clubs, venturing into Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.
In 1989, I left the band and took classes at Fullerton College in recording engineering, music theory, electronic music, and jazz guitar. I also started doing live sound in clubs learning to mix music in styles ranging from heavy metal to ska to punk, and everything in between.
I always had an interest in home recording and technology. In 1997 I borrowed a computer and found a niche for music and a successful day gig in tech support, software development, and team leadership.
Over the years, I built my project studio and skills as a musician, recording engineer/producer, and videographer. This journey led me to start RGK Productions, and we focus on helping you create audio and video advertisement that turn prospects into clients.
